WordPress Video Product Overviews For Free.

I’ll be honest, I’m increasingly interested in video lately; I prefer the medium. It allows you to be yourself, without any pretense of how you should come across. Don’t get me wrong, I write in my natural voice. Heck, it probably even annoys some people.

Recently, I did a podcast with Corey Maas. If you don’t know him, you should—he’s a lovely guy. It was an informal chat, getting to know the person behind the product. Here’s the video if you’d like to take it for a spin 👇

We had a giggle, and I loved the informal approach. It opened up discussions and, honestly, a new relationship. I’m not talking about us going camping anytime soon, but I consider Corey a like-minded soul and hopefully, moving forward, a friend.

Yeah, that guy. Grrrr. I’ve worked for Cristian in the past, mainly on a few blog posts for WP Modula, some edits, some video work, and more. I do consider Cristian a friend—he’s been there for me when the chips were down, offering encouragement and guidance on this odd journey we call life.

The guy is a bit of a legend to me, quiet and unassuming yet extremely knowledgeable.

I digress—overly wordy of me. A thousand pardons. Here’s the tweet.

I’ll be honest, when I read it, I was like, “WTF, dude? Seriously?” How much work would that be, and I’ll make no bank whatsoever.” Then it clicked in my head.

This is kind of cool. I need content, people need their products to be seen, and I can totally do this. And dare I say, have fun along the way. Meet new people, create relationships, and offer help where I can.

I don’t see this as a money-losing exercise. I’m naturally inclined to help people, a trait I got from my folks. You don’t give to receive; that’s been my doctrine for many years.

If people want more, then they pay, simple as that.

The Proposition

So here’s what I’m proposing, and please bear in mind, I am but one person. I am not omnipotent; I have my limits. I have a full-time job, and I do this as a passion.

To that end, I don’t want to raise expectations. I am not a magic cure-all for your marketing efforts; I’m just a guy, standing in front of a developer/company, asking them to be patient. 👇👇

• I’m not charging for this service. I’m impartial; I evaluate products based on their merits and have no allegiance to anyone. If I spot a fault, I will inform you and mark the timestamp of the issue. It’s up to you to fix it. All videos will be uploaded to my YouTube channel, regardless of any issues. It’s up to you to comment on the fix and educate others.

• I don’t accept payment; however, I would prefer a single-site license so I can test on my own. A lifetime license would be ideal, as I may aim to revisit the product with how-tos, etc. However, it’s not necessary.

• Please don’t harass me if I find anything wrong with your product. If I’m at fault, I’ll admit it. All videos will be sent to you for approval, giving you time to address any issues.

• I would appreciate it (as this is a new channel) if you could share the video or embed it in your product listings, whether it’s on your site or in the .org directory if you offer a free version.

• I’m technical but not at a PHP code editing level. If your plugin is overly technical, I will sadly decline. It’s not your fault; it’s mine.

• Please be respectful of the above. I don’t pull my punches and tell it like it is. If that’s not for you, please don’t bother filling in the form below.

• If you’re satisfied with the above, and once I’ve familiarized myself with your product, I am available for hire to convert documentation to video content. This can be arranged on a case-by-case basis.
