How easy is it to create an affiliate website using WordPress?

I thought, why not go through the mill and show you how to go about it?

This series of posts is as it happens. Basically, real-world experiences, and I’ll be frank here, you don’t have to listen to a damn word I say.

Those of you who would like to see a live instance of the affiliate store will have to wait a few posts (I’ve got to build it for a start).

For now? Well, it’s all about being honest.

Make no mistake, I’m not here to push you into buying XYZ affiliate plugin, or ABC theme; the methods/ideas here can be utilized for pretty much any affiliate website.

I’m a big believer in leading by example. I have a domain in mind, I have a mindset, I have a goal, and I want to have fun. The four key ingredients you need to create an affiliate website.

I’ll be honest here, the methods I use will be trial and error. It’s up to you to learn from them and not make the same mistakes.

If I can do this, you can bet your ass to a barn dance you can as well.

I’m Frank; nice to meet you.

Well, I am. I’m Frank. It’s not my real name (I’m Ben, nice to meet you), but in terms of my language, I don’t mince my words, and I sure as sh*t tell it like it is.

I want to take you on a journey, one of riches and passive income.

Hmm, what’s that smell? It’s BS, so adjust your nostrils; I don’t roll like that.

In fact, anyone who says they will make you rich or extols the virtues of passive income, well, run.

Run like the wind, you don’t need that in your life, and I’m sure not going to spew that nonsense.

Our tale begins: AKA the why

I’m 45 (not quite walking stick age) but not far off. I have a carpet slug, not literally; that would be absurd. In other words, I’ve got a kid.

The main issue I see is the web. It’s inundated with offers. It’s awash with this product, that one is better, this one?

Well, it’s even better.

As a parent, it’s hard to find products for our children. It’s even harder when they get to a certain age.

Then, it hit me.

What if there was a way I could marry my interests to what other parents are looking for? What if there was a way I could make something that not only serves me as a parent but others?

By others, I mean, and I hate labels (geeks). I have a passion for specific sectors/interests, and all will be revealed as I go further into the murky waters of affiliate websites.

I say murky, as it can be a kind of sh*t show, but not if you do it right, educate, and hell, have some fun along the way.

I’ve tried my hand at affiliate websites, got lazy, and thought it would make me money forever.

Knock, knock, who’s there?

Reality: “Hi, I saw your blog post, and here’s the thing. It doesn’t generate passive income forever. “

Kind regards

Reality.

I love it when reality comes knocking. I usually don’t answer.

Please, please…

Get this through your skull; affiliate websites are hard work. Whether you like it or not, you will have to graft.

No two ways about it; you need to do the groundwork, and despite some claims (often ebook sellers), this isn’t a case of setting it and forgetting it.

To be Frank (Hi again!), affiliate websites take time. They take effort, and if you don’t have either available, rethink things and do something else.

You’ll fail. (I told you I could be blunt.)

Too much Blunt?

I sound harsh; I don’t mean to be, but that’s the cold hard reality of running an affiliate website.

Like anything in life, you get out what you put in. Unless you’re selling air, then it’s a gray area.

I’m waffling.

I’ll be honest here, don’t expect miracles, or paying for a family member’s College tuition or a Kidney transplant.

You will get honesty, tips, and maybe a trick or two.

I’ll always leave the comments open for people to interact on progress, don’t ask me for the URL; it’s a secret, and I’ve still got to build it.

Toodle pip, till the next update. Stay safe, be well, and be you.

P.s. Get ready for some hard work; get some electrolytes in you, whatever you need. You’ll need it.
